The pro version of Elementor comes with a Posts widget that you can use to display articles on your website. However, it takes more effort to use this widget to display articles in a certain style. For instance, if you want to display articles in a list style, there will be many adjustments you need to make. From the numbers of columns, image ratio, and so on. The Smart Post List widget of Essential Addons allows you to display articles in a list style more effortlessly.
Smart Post List is one of the widgets offered by Essential Addons that allow you to display articles on your website. This widget is designed specifically to display articles in a list style. Here is an example.

The Smart Post List is especially will be a useful widget if you are creating the homepage of an online magazine. You can use it to display articles from a specific category or by tags.
How to use the Smart Post List widget
The Smart Post List widget is available on the pro version of Essential Addons. To use it, simply drag the Smart Post List widget from the left panel to the canvas area of Elementor.

By default, the widget displays the last 4 articles on your website. You can filter the articles by category, tag, and author. In addition to displaying articles, you can also use this widget to display pages and WooCommerce products.

Filtering the articles
There are 4 parameters you can use to filter the articles: author, category, tag, and format. You can simply add the parameter you want to use by clicking on each field. You can add multiple items for each parameter. You can find the parameters under the Query block under the Content tab.

From the Query block, you can also set the number of posts per page as well as the order of the article.
Setting the layout
To set the layout, you can go to the Layout Settings block under the Content tab. Select a layout on the Layout Type option. There are three other options you can set as well:
- Show/hide top bar
- Show/hide category filter
- Enable/disable pagination

Setting the featured post
The Smart Post List widget allows you to set a featured post. The featured post will be displayed in a large column on the left side.

To set a featured image, open the Featured Post Settings block under the Content tab. Type the title of the article you want to set as the featured post. You can then set the height, width, show/hide post meta, show/hide title, and show/hide the excerpt.

Customizing the posts on the list
By default, your articles are displayed in two columns. You can set the number of columns on the List Post Settings block under the Content tab. From this block, you can also show/hide the featured image, post meta, post title, and excerpt.

Styling the Smart Post List widget
To customize the look of the Smart Post List widget, you can go to the Style tab. From this tab, you can set the text color of the components on the widget, typography (font size, font family, font style), padding, and border radius. There are 4 components you can customize the look of:
- Top bar
- Navigation
- Featured Post
- Posts (posts on the list)

The top block under the Style tab (the Post List Style) is used to style the container. You can use this block to set the background of the container, the padding, the widget, and the border-radius.
