The Blurb module in Divi is a module that combines text and image content. You can use it to add any element that contains text and image (or icon) to the page you are working on. For instance, you can use it to show the list of the services offered by your (or your client’s) company.
Not only you can use the Blurb module to display static content, but you can also use it to display dynamic content. For the image element, you can set it to display the featured image of the blog post, author profile picture, and the site logo. While for the text element, you can set it to display the page title, page excerpt, publication date, page author, author bio, site title, site tagline, current date, and custom fields.
The following is an example of the usage of the Blurb module of Divi.
The example above consists of 6 Blurb modules on 6 different columns.
How to Use the Blurb Module of Divi
You can add a Blurb module on the Divi Builder editor, whether you are working on a page or theme builder template (header, footer, single post layout, and so on). In case you are new to Divi Builder, you can create a new page (Pages -> Add New) and click the Use Divi Builder button to open the Divi Builder editor.
To add a Blurb module, simply click the grey plus icon on the canvas area. Search for the Blurb module on the appearing panel.
Another panel — the settings panel — will appear right after you click the module. You can use this panel to make the settings to the Blurb module.
Editing the Text Content
To edit the default text content on the Blurb module, you can open the Text block under the Content tab on the settings panel. The text content itself consists of two sections: title and body (description). Simply type your texts on the available fields.
Or, if you want to add a dynamic content, you can click the database icon on each field.
Editing the Image Content
To edit the image content, you can open the Image & Icon block under the Content tab on the settings panel. You can either use an image or icon. To use an icon, you can simply toggle the Use Icon option (you can’t use an icon and image altogether). Simply click the image picker to select an image. Or, if you want to use a dynamic image, you can click the database icon.
Editing the Link
The Blurb module also allows you to add a link. You can either add a link to the title element or the whole Blurb module. To set the link, you can open the Link block. To add a link to the title element, you can simply type your link on the Title Link URL field. Or you can click the database icon to set a dynamic link. While to add a link to the whole Blurb module, you can type your link on the Module Link block or simply click the database icon to set a dynamic link.
Adding a Background to the Blurb Module
If you want it, you can also set a background on the Blurb module. You can either use a solid color background, gradient color, image, or video. Simply click the Background block to set a background. Specify the type of background you want to use by clicking one of the tabs and then click the picker to set one.
Styling Up the Blurb Module
Once you are done making the basic settings on the Content tab, you can switch to the Design tab to style up the Blurb module. There 11 blocks you can open here. Here are some basic stylings you can apply.
Styling Up the Image Content
To style up the image/icon content on the Blurb module, you can open the Image & Icon block under the Design tab. You set things like the icon color, image/icon position (top or left), image/icon alignment.
Styling Up the Text Content
The text content on the Blub module is separated into two sections: title and body (description). To style up the title section, you can open the Title Text block. From this block, you can set the typography (font family, font style, font size, and so on) of the title element, text color, text alignment, apply text shadow, and so on.
To style up the body section, you can open the Body Text block. You can also set things as you did on the Title Text block above.
Setting the Margin and Padding
You can open the Spacing block to set the margin as well as the padding. To set the margin between the Blurb module and the surrounding modules on the page, you can set the values (top, bottom, left, and right) on the Margin option.
To set the padding of the Blurb module content, you can set the values (top, bottom, left, and right) on the Padding option.
You can play around on other blocks to apply other stylings. To apply an animation effect of the entrance, for instance, you can open the Animation block.
Once you are done making the settings to the Blurb module, don’t forget to click the checklist icon on the bottom-right corner of the settings panel to apply the changes.
If you want to make advanced settings like adding a custom CSS, scroll effect, and so on, you can open the Advanced tab on the settings panel.
The Bottom Line
The Blurb module is a versatile enough module of Divi. While you can use it to display the list of your (or your client’s) services like shown on the screenshot above, you can also use the module to add elements like the author box on the bottom side of the single post template and other elements. The use of the module depends on your creativity.
