So, you want to build a new website with WordPress. After doing some research, you eventually end up with two final options of the theme you want to use: Divi and Monstroid2. Then you wonder, which one you should buy? In this post, we will cover both themes to help you make the best decision.
Both Divi and Monstroid2 are WordPress themes that have an expensive enough price. While most WordPress themes have an average price between $40 to $60, Divi and Monstroid2 are sold for above $70. To get Divi, you have to spend $89. While to get Monstroid2, you need to spend $75 (we will talk more about this later).
Divi vs Monstroid2: Overview
Divi and Monstroid2 are two WordPress themes that come with a default page builder. Divi with Divi Builder and Monstroid2 with Elementor. Divi is developed by Elegant Themes while Monstroid2 is developed by Zemez. There is one thing we want to underline before we step further. Divi (just “Divi”) and Divi Builder are two different products. Divi is a WordPress theme while Divi Builder is a page builder plugin. Just like Elementor, you can also use Divi Builder on any WordPress theme.
Both Divi and Monstroid2 come with premade templates to ease your job in creating a website (a complete website). Here are the highlights of those themes.

Divi vs Monstroid2: Features
Today, most WordPress themes come with a default page builder as one of the features they offer. A page builder allows you to create a beautiful page (be it the homepage, the about page, the contact page or the landing page) without having to deal with CSS or HTML. A page builder plugin (including Divi Builder and Elementor), has a visual editor that allows you to create a web page. Everything is drag and drop.
In addition to a page builder, both Divi and Monstroid2 also offer other features. Here are the key features offered by Divi and Monstroid2:
1. Page builder
# Divi
As mentioned earlier above, Divi has a default page builder called Divi Builder. Both Divi and Divi Builder are created by the same developer, Elegant Themes. With Divi Builder, you can create the pages for your websites more easily. You can add elements like columns, buttons, images, texts, and so on and customize the styles of those elements without touching a single line of code. At all. Take a look at the video below in case you haven’t heard about Divi Builder before.
Divi Builder itself comes with a theme builder feature, allowing you to create custom theme parts. You can, for instance, create a custom footer for your theme. Every custom theme part can be applied to the entire website or specific page(s) within your website. The custom theme parts you can create with Divi Builder are:
- Header
- Footer
- Single post template
- 404 page
- Archive pages (Author page, category page, tags page)
- Search results page
One of the things we don’t like about Divi Builder is that it has only 38 default design elements. Way fewer than Elementor (read: Divi Builder vs Elementor Pro).
# Monstroid2
Unlike Elegant Themes that use their own page builder, Zemez uses a page builder developed by a third-party developer, Elementor. Elementor itself is one of the most popular page builder plugins for WordPress. Since released in 2016, this page builder has been downloaded by over 4 million times (as of January 2020). Monstroid2 itself is built around Elementor and JetPlugins. You can also use Elementor to create pages for your website without having to deal with CSS or HTML. Here is the introduction video of Elementor.
The Elementor version used on Monstroid2 is the free version. However, since Monstroid2 is bundled with JetPlugins, there are more design elements you can make use of to create a page. There are over 50 design elements in total.
A little intro about JetPlugins. It is a set of premium Elementor add-ons developed by Crocoblock, consists of 17 add-ons. The add-ons included in the Monstroid2 theme are:
- JetThemeCore
- JetElements
- JetBlocks
- JetBlog
- JetTricks
The availability of over 50 design elements (widgets) gives you more chances to add creative elements to a page. When creating a web page in Monstroid2, you can create elements like:
- Instagram feed
- Pie chart
- Map with multiple pins
- Image comparison
- YouTube playlist
Divi Builder has no design element (called module) to add five element types above. Monstroid2 also allows you to create custom theme parts although not every part. The theme parts you can create in Monstroid2 are:
- Header
- Footer
- 404 page
- Archive pages (category page and tags page)
2. Templates
# Divi
The availability of templates on both Divi and Monstroid2 allows you to get your website done more quickly. You can import the templates for core pages (the homepage, about page, contact page, landing page, and so on) and replace the content with your own content. Elegant Themes itself uses the term “layout” instead of “template”.
Divi Builder comes with over 150 layout packs. A layout pack is a set of layouts with a consistent design concept. A layout pack is designed specifically for a certain website type. Commonly, a layout pack consists of the following page layouts:
- Home page layout
- About page layout
- Blog page layout
- Contact page layout
- Landing page layout
- Team page layout
You can use a layout when creating a new page in Divi. There will be an option to create a page whether from scratch or from a layout.
Elegant Themes releases a new layout pack each week. Unfortunately, there is no option to import a layout pack with a single click. You need to import each layout on a layout pack individually.
# Monstroid2
Same as Divi, Monstroid2 also comes with ready-to-use templates. Monstroid2 uses the term “skin” to call their templates. A skin is a set of templates (Elementor templates more precisely) with a consistent design concept (much like Divi layout pack). It is also intended for a specific website type.
Monstroid2 has over 50 skins and the developer also promises to release a new skin every week.
Unlike Divi, Monstroid2 allows you to install a skin with a single click. In addition to core pages, a Monstroid2 skin also comes with the demo content, header template, and footer template. Simply put, you can have a complete website by installing a skin. You just need to replace the default content with your own content.
3. E-commerce
You might be wondering, do you can use Divi or Monstroid2 to create an e-commerce site? 100 percent.
Technically, the functionality of the e-commerce system is provided by WooCommerce. A WordPress theme plays a role only to display the products. So, as long as you have WooCommerce installed, you can create an e-commerce website with WordPress, no matter the theme you use.
# Divi
Divi Builder has a module called Shop. You can use this module to display products with your own styles. The products can be filtered by the following parameters:
- Recent products
- Featured products
- Sale products
- Best selling products
- Top rated products
- Product category
The single product template offered by Divi looks great enough. Without making any setting, you will have the following single product template.
If the default single product template offered by Divi doesn’t suit you, you can create one yourself using Divi Builder’s theme builder.
# Monstroid2
The WooCommerce feature of Monstroid2 is powered by JetWooBuilder. There are 4 main widgets you can use to display your products:
- Categories Grid
- Products List
- Products Grid
- Taxonomy Tiles
Unless you use a skin dedicated specifically to e-commerce sites, the default single product template offered by Monstroid2 isn’t too impressive. You can change the default single product template (JetWooBuilder has ready-to-use templates), but it takes a little effort.
4. SEO
SEO is one of the most-considered aspects when a WordPress user wants to buy a theme. Divi has a default SEO feature where you can enable the custom SEO title, enable meta description, enable meta keyword, and so on. On the other hand, Monstroid2 has no default SEO feature, but you can install plugins like Yoast or All in One SEO Pack to add an SEO feature.
5. Other features
In addition to the 4 key features above, both Divi and Monstroid2 also offer other features you might want to consider. Monstroid2, for instance, has a popup builder (powered by JetPopup) that you can use to create popups. You can also have a popup builder feature on Divi by installing the Bloom plugin. However, the use of Bloom is limited to the email subscription popups, while JetPopup can be used to create a wide range of popups. From an email subscription popup, promotional banner, notification banner, off-canvas menu, and so on.
Both Divi and Monstroid2 allow you to customize the single post template like setting the typography (font size, font style, font family, and so on) and text color via WordPress’ theme customizer. Monstroid2 offers 10 different single post templates you can choose from, while Divi offers only a single post template option. But in Divi, you can create a custom single post template yourself using Divi Builder’s theme builder. The same capability is not available in Monstroid2.
Divi | Monstroid2 | |
Default popup builder | No | Yes |
Single post templates | No | 10 templates |
Single post template creator | Yes | No |
Ads manager | Yes | No |
Google Analytics integration | Yes | No |
Header customizer | Yes | Yes |
Footer customizer | Yes | Yes |
Template library | Yes | Yes |

Divi vs Monstroid2: Usability
Divi tends to ideal for static websites (websites that don’t need regular articles update) like agency websites, restaurant websites, portfolio websites, and so on. Elegant Themes offers a different theme if you want to create a dynamic website like an online magazine or news portal: Extra. Extra, just like Divi, also comes with Divi Builder as its default page builder.
Meanwhile, Monstroid2 is a multipurpose theme. You can use it whether to create a dynamic website or a static website. There are at least two skins you can install if you want to create a dynamic website with Monstroid2: Noovazity and Turbodrive.
Divi vs Monstroid2: Pricing
As mentioned earlier, Divi and Monstroid2 are two WordPress themes that have an expensive price. You need to spend more than $ 70 to get those themes.
There is a fundamental difference between Divi and Monstroid2 in terms of buying options. Elegant Themes adopts a membership business model. You can download Divi by becoming a member of the Elegant Themes website. The membership fee itself is $89 per year. By becoming an Elegant Themes member, not only you can download Divi, but also other products developed by Elegant Themes. Here are the WordPress-based products you can download:
- Divi theme
- Extra theme
- Divi Builder (if you want to use it on another theme)
- Bloom
- Monarch
Elegant Themes also offers a one-time purchase option with a price of $249.
Monstroid2, on the other hand, is marketed on TemplateMonster. You can get this theme with a one-time purchase for $75.
ONE CRUCIAL THING TO NOTE. Once becoming a member, Elegant Themes allows you to download Divi multiple times and install it on as many websites as you want. While a single Monstroid2 license can only be used on a single website and the license is not transferable. That is why in the first table above we conveyed that Divi is ideal for web developers who create websites for clients.
Technical supports
Technical support is another crucial enough aspect to consider before you buy a WordPress theme. Without technical support, you have no one to talk to if you experience a technical issue regarding theme usage.
- Divi
Divi has excellent technical support. The developer (Elegant Themes), provides a live chat feature on their website which you can use to get an instant reply over your problem. Or, you can also solve your problem by reading their documentation page. Elegant Themes also provides a community forum where you can get answers from fellow Divi users.
- Monstroid2
Same as Divi, Monstroid2 also has excellent enough technical support. However, since this theme is marketed via TemplateMonster, the technical support (live chat in particular) is not handled directly by the developer team. The developer team also provides official documentation, though.
The verdict
Divi and Monstroid are two great premium WordPress themes. They come with a default page builder to allow you to create beautiful pages without having to deal with either CSS or HTML. Each theme offers ready-to-use template packs to allow you to create a complete website more quickly. The two also come with a feature to allow you to style your WooCommerce-powered store.
Divi tends to ideal for static websites, while Monstroid2 can be used for any website type, including dynamic websites like online magazines or news portals. Divi is a better option if you are a web developer who creates websites for clients since its membership license allows you to install Divi on unlimited websites. While the license of Monstroid2 only allows you to install it on a single website. Divi is also a better option if you are the sort of person who hates installing too many WordPress plugins.
Meanwhile, Monstroid2 is a better option if you have an emphasis on page builder. Elementor, however, is better than Divi Builder. It is lighter, simpler, and has more design elements, allowing you to add more creative elements to a web page.
