The pro version of Elementor comes with a theme builder feature that allows you to create a custom header for your WordPress site. When creating a custom header using Elementor Pro, you can add a navigation menu using the Nav Menu widget. While you can use the Nav Menu widget to create a basic, simple menu, you might need an alternative to create a more advanced menu.
There are two possible reasons why you look for a Nav Menu widget alternative:
- You want to create a mega menu.
- You need a backup just in case the Nav Widget doesn’t work the way it supposed to be due to a bug.
Some Elementor add-ons — premium add-ons in particular — come with widgets to add a menu to your custom header. Here are some of those add-ons.
We can say that JetMenu is the best Elementor add-on if your purpose is to create an advanced menu. You can use it to create a mega menu and an off-canvas menu. Instead of one, JetMenu adds three widgets that you can use to add a menu to your custom header. They are:
- Mega Menu
- Vertical Mega Menu
- Hamburger Menu
Hamburger Menu is the widget that you can use to create an off-canvas menu. When working with one of the JetMenu widgets, you can open a settings block dedicated to customizing the mobile menu on your website. JetMenu itself is a premium Elementor add-on part of JetPlugins. You can get it for $24 per year.
2. Essential Addons
Just like the name suggests, Essential Addons is an add-on that offers essential widgets for your Elementor. Some widgets offered by Essential Addons have been available on Elementor Pro, but they offer different settings options. Essential Addons comes with two widgets to create a menu on your Elementor-powered website:
- Advanced Menu
Those two widgets are only available on the pro version. Despite its name, the Advanced Menu widget can only be used to create a basic menu just like Elementor’s Nav Menu widget. It has no capability to create a mega menu like JetMenu. While for the Offcanvas widget, you can use it to create an off-canvas menu.
Raven is an Elementor add-on developed by Artbees, the developer of the Jupiter X theme. Jupiter X itself is an Elementor-based WordPress theme. Raven is developed exclusively for the Jupiter X theme so to use it; you need to install the Jupiter X theme as well on your WordPress site. Raven comes with a widget — the Navigation Menu widget — that you can use to use to add a menu to your custom header. The Raven Navigation Menu can be used to create a simple menu just like Elementor’s native Nav Menu widget.
4. Ultimate Addons
There are two widgets offered by Ultimate Addons that you can use to create a menu:
- Navigation Menu
If you want to create a mega menu, you can use the Navigation Menu widget. You can add content like WooCommerce products or blog posts to your mega menu. In addition to creating a mega menu, the Navigation widget can also be used to create a fly-out and expanded menu. Meanwhile, the Off-Canvas widget is a widget dedicated to creating an off-canvas menu. You can also add any content you want when creating an off-canvas menu using the widget. The Ultimate Addons itself is a premium add-on. There is no free version offered by it.
5. The Plus Addons
The Plus Addons is a freemium Elementor add-on. It has a widget — the Navigation Menu widget — to create a menu on your Elementor-powered site. However, the widget is only available on the pro version so you need to buy the pro version to create a menu using this widget. You can use the widget to create a simple menu or an advanced menu like a mega menu.
6. Unlimited Elements
Another add-on that offers a widget to replace the Nav Menu widget of Elementor is Unlimited Elements. This add-on comes with a widget — the Nav Menu widget — to create a simple menu. It has no capability to create an advanced menu. Be it a mega menu or an off-canvas menu. You can use the Nav Menu widget of the Unlimited Elements as the backup of the Nav Menu widget of Elementor. Unlimited Elements itself is a freemium add-on and the Nav Menu widget is available on the pro version.
